From May 15 to August 15, 2027, Belgrade will host EXPO 2027, the first Specialised Expo recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions to be held in the Western Balkans. Organizers expect more than 4 million visitors, and more than 140 international participants have confirmed. It will be the largest international event Serbia has hosted.

For companies, the exposition is most useful as a timeframe for preparation. Over the coming months, the attention of Serbian government leaders, the investment community, international delegations, and the media will be concentrated on Belgrade. Meetings with decision makers that might otherwise take a year to arrange become practical to request.

Senior officials' calendars in the months around the opening will fill quickly, and the most valuable meetings will go to those who requested them early, with clear objectives and credible counterparts. A company that begins planning in April 2027 is likely to find the calendar already full.

A practical timeline works backward from the opening. By late 2026, companies should know what they want from Serbia: suppliers, partners, customers, a site for investment, or engineering capacity. Over the winter, they should identify and qualify counterparts and confirm participation in a structured delegation. In the spring, meeting programs and logistics should be finalized. The exposition itself is then the moment to meet, visit facilities, and agree next steps.

The same logic applies to Serbian companies. EXPO 2027 is an opportunity to host American buyers and partners on home ground, in a city showing itself at its best. Serbian exporters who prepare materials, identify target American companies, and coordinate with their chambers in advance will be positioned to turn visits into orders.

The exposition closes on August 15, 2027. Relationships prepared in advance and followed through afterward can continue well beyond that date.
